Sierra Club / WTC Biography: In the late 1990’s I was backpacking with the Orange County Sierra Singles. Each year a particular pair of leaders advised me to take WTC. I didn’t think there would be much more to learn about backpacking. I was wrong. I made friends in WTC that share the love of the outdoors. I was introduced to leaders that have a mountaineering skill set that I was to acquire in subsequent years.  I took different classes that formed the bases for safe travel over rock and snow. These classes were as follows:

Wilderness First Aid – April 2011

Wilderness First Aid – Scheduled May 30-31, 2015

SCMA Basic Rock Climbing Safety Skills Course – January 2009

Snow Travel Skills – June 2000

Level I Avalanche Course – January 2012

These classes in addition to the many offered by Sierra Club Leaders formed my mountaineering skill set that any WTC student could have.

Wilderness Biography:

Something unique about me: I was lucky enough to marry Sandy, another Sierra Club WTC Leader/Instructor. Not so unique because other WTC Instructors have also become married. 30 years ago I experienced a knee injury while skiing in Alaska. This later led to arthritis which led to some of my knee cartilage disintegrating till I was bone on bone in that area. November 21, 2014 I had a knee replacement operation. I am still in recovery and it will take about 6 months before I am back to my full activities. I will not be able to participate in all of your fun WTC outings.
