Wilderness Biography:  I was not an outdoorsy kid; the first time I climbed a tree was on a multi-pitch, 5th-class climb in Tahquitz as a young adult. My first major peak was Mt. Fuji when I lived in Japan after college because I figured I might as well hike the tallest thing while I was there. Since then, I got involved with the Sierra Club, developed a love for the outdoors and furthered my technical skills. In addition to getting my M rating in 2018, I’ve completed the E Rock and Snow checkoffs and instructed with Sierra Club’s Advanced Mountaineering Program. I’m also an associate member of the Southern California Mountaineers Association. I’ve led and climbed many technical and notable peaks, but my “greatest” summit is Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341′). Not only was the trip itself amazing, but I was paid to do it; I was hired as a model by REI Adventures to climb the peak as part of a photoshoot. I added a safari across Tanzania and scuba diving off of Zanzibar afterwards to make it an awesome, multi-sport adventure.
