Sierra Club / WTC Biography: I was a WTC student in LBSB Group 3 in Neal’s first year as a leader. Coming back in 2022 to help out as an instructor for the first time.

Wilderness Biography: I started backpacking in 1997 and went on a month long trip to Nepal without really knowing anything. Had an incredible experience but decided to sign up for WTC to learn some skills for future trips. It really opened my eyes to the possibilities of exploring places outside of established trails as well as giving me the confidence to do it. Since taking WTC I try to take a few trips every year to different areas of the Sierras and climb a few peaks along the way (88 SPS peaks).

Interests: Hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, running, skiing, soccer, helping with the backpacking and rock climbing program in my son’s boy scout troop

Something unique about me: I started running in order to help maintain my fitness for backpacking. I ended up really enjoying it on its own and have run a number of marathons including Boston.
